Our story
Who we are
Founding Director of ēkôsauna, Olive Andrews, is a conservation professional who has spent the last 20 years in marine policy and science, which is foundational to the ethos of the business. The business embodies sustainability with a commitment to minimising environmental impact through climate certification, use of eco-friendly materials, raising awareness of every guest, and directly funding conservation groups and projects. Our package is based on science and aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of the community and our environment.
Our Philosophy: Restore people and nature
The philosophy of the business, and our name, is based on the concept of ecology – the relationship of an organism to its environment. Our point of difference is a wellness experience that connects people to nature, a therapy now prescribed by doctors.
When people are mindful, they are better able to take critical decisions and actions, needed to address local and global conservation targets. A seaside sauna incorporates elements of nature and mindfulness, with an aim to promote a connection to the natural world and enhance overall well-being.
Sustainability
Sustainability is the cornerstone of our ethos. We're proud to commit 5% of our profits to supporting the vital work of Whaleology, ensuring the conservation of whales and oceans. We are committed to being climate positive, with certification process through Ekos.
